Ottawa, ON
On National Hunting, Trapping and Fishing Heritage Day, four leading Canadian conservation organizations proudly
announced today the launch of the Canadian Wildlife Conservation Partners (CWCP). The CWCP is a new
collaborative effort to protect Canada’s outdoor heritage and ensure a strong future for wildlife, habitat, and the
responsible hunting and trapping traditions that define our national identity.
The CWCP is a coalition of conservation-focused organizations from across Canada, committed to advancing
science-based wildlife management, safeguarding biodiversity, and defending the rights and traditions of hunters,
trappers, and outdoor enthusiasts.
The four founding members of the Canadian Wildlife Conservation Partners are:
• Delta Waterfowl
• Fur Institute of Canada
• Safari Club International – Canada
• Wild Sheep Society of British Columbia
The coalition operates under a shared set of guiding principles and rules of engagement that respect the autonomy
of each partner organization while coordinating advocacy efforts on issues of national and provincial importance.
The CWCP will provide a shared voice for Canada’s hunting and trapping organizations to advocate on issues of
shared concern, including but not limited to firearms, loss of land access, wildlife science and management and
international trade in wildlife.
The Canadian Wildlife Conservation Partners welcome prospective partner organizations from across Canada that
share a commitment to hunting, trapping, conservation, and the scientific management of wildlife to contact a
founding member organization for more information.
“Together, our national collaborative will amplify the voice of Canada’s hunter-conservationists, trappers, and
sustainable users. By working collectively, we will bring accountability, support, and guidance to government,
ensuring that those who embrace and steward our outdoor heritage are truly heard.” - Kyle Stelter, Chief Executive
Officer, Wild Sheep Society of British Columbia
“The Canadian Wildlife Conservation Partners is a great opportunity to band together and stand up for
conservation, hunting, trapping and our outdoor heritage. Having sportsmen and women come together under the
CWCP will ensure that we can work together to protect our outdoor heritage that we all value and enjoy.”- Chris
Everett, Chapter/Advocacy Services Specialist - Canada, Safari Club International
“For decades, there has been a glaring need for an inclusive, unified voice to effectively represent and advocate for
Canadian hunters and trappers. The introduction of the Canadian Wildlife Conservation Partners is the first step in
filling that void which is incredibly exciting” - Brian McRae, Director of Government Affairs - Canada, Delta
Waterfowl
“The CWCP is a tool that will make sure that decision-makers in Ottawa and provincial and territorial capitals hear
the collective voice of Canada’s hundreds of thousands of hunters and trappers”-Doug Chiasson, Executive
Director, Fur Institute of Canada
